Abhishek Banerjee Election Result 2026: Constituency Name, Current Vote Counting Status and Who is Leading?

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently on track for a historic breakthrough in West Bengal, holding a commanding lead over the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) as counting for the 2026 Assembly elections progresses. Early trends show the BJP leading in 181 seats, comfortably surpassing the 148-seat majority mark in the 294-member Housewhile the TMC trails with leads in 92 constituencies. 

The National General Secretary of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Abhishek Banerjee, is not running in this 2026 Assembly election. Instead, he has directed his attention to the state-wide campaigning, strategic planning and the organization management of the party.

Although he has been very active in the election campaign, especially in challenging opposition strongholds such as Nandigram and setting ambitious victory margins against party candidates in key constituencies like Bhabanipur, he still remains a Member of Parliament representing the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency.

Status of West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 Vote Counting

On May 4, 2026, the election procedure entered the severe phase of vote counting. The party leadership such as Abhishek Banerjee has kept the counting agents on their toes by keeping a close eye and tracking of the counting agents at every stage and point. 

No official announcements or results have been officially declared yet and the final count of constituencies in West Bengal is still being processed by the Election Commission of India.

Constituency Name

The current Member of Parliament of the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency is Abhishek Banerjee who has been representing the constituency since 2014. 

Although he is the National General Secretary of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and plays a leading role in the running of the party campaigns in West Bengal, he is not a candidate in any seat of the Legislative Assembly elections of 2026. 

His participation in the 2026 state elections has been oriented towards strategic management and campaigning on behalf of AITC candidates and not on his own electoral contest.

Party representatives and officials are now monitoring the process in different counting centers which were set up throughout the state. Since it is an active, continuing administrative process, final results to most of the 293 contentious seats are yet to be tabulated.

AJUP is leading in 2 seats, BGPM in 1 seat and CPI(M) in 1 seat, indicating a fragmented but numerically marginal presence for smaller parties at this stage.
