CBSE Board Exam 2021 Cancellation: Priyanka Gandhi backs students, says Board irresponsible to hold offline exams

CBSE Board Exam 2021 Cancellation: The demand for cancellation of CBSE Board Exam 2021 from students and parents has got a great boost, with Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi backing their cause. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said that CBSE Board was being irresponsible for forcing students to appear for upcoming CBSE Board 10^th and 12^th Exam 2021 in offline format. She demanded that upcoming Board Exams should either be cancelled or postponed in the view of the prevailing Coronavirus situation in the country.

Cancel or Reschedule Board Exams

Taking-up concerns of lakhs of students who are concerned about appearing for upcoming CBSE Board Exam 2021 amid the on-going 2^nd and much more aggressive wave of COVID-19 in the country, Ms Gandhi took to twitter to voice her concern about the irresponsible behaviour of board which may put lives of students at risk. In a tweet sent out from her official account, Priyanka Gandhi said that “"It is downright irresponsible of boards like the CBSE to force students to sit for exams under the prevailing circumstances. Board exams should either be cancelled, rescheduled or arranged in a manner that does not require the physical presence of children at crowded exam centres.”

Exams to Go on As per Schedule, says CBSE

Earlier on Thursday, senior officials from CBSE Board confirmed Board Exams 2021 will be held as per the schedule announced earlier despite the serious pandemic situation across the country. The statement from CBSE officials came in response to the Online Petition signed by over 1 Lakh CBSE students, demanding cancellation or postponement of the board exams. Addressing concerns of the students, Board  official said that keeping in mind the surge in COVID-19 numbers, the board has put in place adequate safeguards to ensure safety and well-being of students during the exam. Moreover, CBSE also confirmed that exam centres across the country have been increased by 40-50 per cent to ensure social distancing among students.
