HRD Minister to release book to commemorate 90 years journey of the CBSE Board

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will launch a coffee table book commemorating 90 years journey of CBSE Board. To commemorate the 90 years journey of CBSE Board, HRD minister will be launching a coffee table book that has chronicled the 90-years of its existence. The book will be released at the 25th National Annual Conference of Sahodaya complexes in the presence of 1,200 principals of CBSE schools from across the globe. CBSE Board started its journey in 1929 when it was setup as the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana. From there on, the Board, over the 90 years of journey, has transformed itself into the biggest school board in the world.

Book to Narrate Journey of CBSE

As per the CBSE officials, the coffee table book being released today narrates the journey of the board from its starting days to today. In addition to this, the book also narrates the key highlights and milestones in the 90 years journey of CBSE Board. The book is being released as a brief history of developments the significant changes that took place over the years in shaping up the board to its present status. Book on CBSE Board’s history contains over 100 pictures has chronicled the journey of board in the last 9 decades. The pictorial description of CBSE Board’s history has been done after thoroughly browsing through the board’s archives.

History of CBSE Board

CBSE Board was setup as the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana in 1929 as the second school board in India after the establishment of UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education in 1921.  Post-independence, the Board was given its current name i.e. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 1952. Following this, the board was reconstituted in 1962 with extension in its jurisdiction.
