Karnataka Board Result 2024: The Supreme Court has put a stay order to the Karnataka High Court’s ruling that allowed the government to announce the Karnataka Class 5, 8, 9, and 11 Board Exam Results 2024. Moreover, the top court stated that the results of any school’s board exams be placed on hold.

The Supreme Court criticised the Karnataka government’s actions and blamed them for playing with students’ futures and causing undue hardship. In addition, the matter also raises questions on whether the board exams are in line with the Right to Education Act.

According to the Supreme Court hearing, Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal declared that the operation of the impugned order shall remain stayed until further orders. The plea filed by the Registered Unaided Private Schools Management Association Karnataka challenged the previous Karnataka High Court decision allowing the state government to proceed with the board exams.

Karnataka Board Exam Classes 5, 8, 9, 11 2024: Case Background

The Karnataka government decided to hold board exams for classes 5, 8, 9, and 11 in 2023-24. However, private schools challenged the decision in the high court, arguing it lacked proper legal procedures. The Karnataka High Court initially sided with the schools, cancelling the exams. Irrespective, the government won the case and proceeded with the board exams.

Now, private schools appealed again to the Supreme Court where the top court put a stay order on results, halting their release. During the hearing, the SC questioned the legality of exams under the Right to Education Act. The court also accused the government of playing with the children's future and directed them not to disclose the results to parents.
