Schools in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, will remain closed today, September 26, 2026, following continuous heavy rainfall, waterlogging and an India Meteorological Department (IMD) red alert for the region. The closure will apply to students from pre-primary to Class 8.
According to the order issued by the District Basic Education Officer (BSA), Prayagraj, the holiday covers government, aided, recognised private schools as well as institutions affiliated with CBSE, ICSE and other boards in the district.

Prayagraj Schools Closed Today: Classes Pre-Primary to 8
All schools in Prayagraj catering to students from pre-primary through Class 8 have been directed to suspend teaching activities on September 26. The decision has been taken considering the prevailing weather conditions and student safety.
The closure is applicable to schools affiliated with the Basic Education Council, CBSE, ICSE and other boards, meaning students across different school boards will not have regular classes today.
