Rajasthan Board examinations cancelled until March 31 due to COVID-19 outbreak

The Rajasthan Board has joined the other education boards in the country to cancel the ongoing class 10 and 12 board examinations due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra has released a statement mentioning that the Class 5, 8, 10 and 12 Board examinations being conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education have been put on golf until further notice. The state chief minister Ashok Gehlot had earlier directed the concerned officials to postpone the examinations in all its schools and colleges until further notice owing to the Novel coronavirus outbreak in the country. 

 

The chief minister also issued an order to shut down all the government and semi-government departments, autonomous institutions, and the state corporations until March 31, 2020, due to the rising cases of coronavirus. 

Reports however also suggest that the departments related to essential services will continue to work in the state. 

 

For the 2020 board examinations nearly 8,65,895 registered for the class 10 board examinations which began on March 12, 2020. The examinations were to continue until March 4, 2020. 11,79,830 candidates registered for the class 12 examinations which were to be held until April 3, 2020. 

 

Rajasthan is not the only state board to have postponed the Class 10 and 12 Board examinations. The Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Board has also postponed all the state board examinations scheduled to be conducted until March 31, 2020. 

The Central Board of Secondary Education and the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Class 10 and 12 examinations have also been postponed by the respective board. Both the CBSE and the ICSE have cancelled the examinations to be conducted between March 19 to 31, 2020.

The MHRD  has also asked all the schools, universities and other institutions to cancel all the examinations and entrance tests until March 31, 2020. 

The National Testing Agency has also postponed the NTA JEE Main 2020 April Session examinations which were to be conducted on April 5, 7, 9 and 11.the new dates for the examinations will be released later.
