Schools In UP Closed On January 25 To Mark Birth Anniversary Of Hazrat Ali

Schools Closed In UP: In honour of Muhammad Hazrat Ali’s birth anniversary, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a holiday today, January 25, 2024. All schools in the state from classes nursery to 12 will be closed today. Recently, the government ordered the closure of all educational institutions and government offices on January 22, 2024, given the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. 

The schools were to resume on January 25, 2024, however, the winter break has been extended till January 27, 2024. The notice issued by the UP government also stated that Republic Day will be celebrated on January 26, 2024. Schools across the country will remain closed but students can participate in different activities. 

Schools Closed Due To Cold Wave

Recently, all schools in Lucknow and Agra were closed for students from classes 1 to 8 given the harsh cold, dense fog, and severe cold weather. The District Magistrate had issued an order for the closure of schools in Lucknow till January 27, 2024. All schools in Agra were closed until January 24, 2024, which has now been extended to January 27, 2024.

The order issued by the DM of Lucknow directed all schools from classes nursery to 12 to close and operate online mode. Meanwhile, the DM of Agra stated that classes 9 to 12 will be conducted from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm in Agra.

Instructions For Schools In UP

Earlier, all schools in Lucknow were instructed to follow the instructions mentioned below until the situation normalised.

• Schools had to operate in online mode to minimize the impact of cold weather conditions and extended breaks on students’ education.
• The compulsion to wear school uniforms was abolished. Students can go to school wearing warm clothes.
• School principals and heads had been instructed to install heaters to control the temperature of the classrooms.

When Will UP Schools Resume?

All schools in Uttar Pradesh are expected to resume on January 29, 2024. The northern part of India has been experiencing harsh weather conditions and cold waves since the beginning of January. Due to this reason and other festivities, the winter vacation of students is extended. The schools are likely to resume operations from Monday, January 29, 2024.
