The New National Education Policy has proposed a central regulator for all the school boards. As per this, all the respective state education boards will be regulated by a national body that will be headed by the Human Resource Development Minister. Until now the center has had no supervision over any of the state education boards except for the CBSE since the state boards are regulated by the respective state governments.

The final draft of the NEP states that a regulatory body will be formed under the Minister of Education for all the school boards in the country in order to regulate, assess and evaluate the norms and standards and also to make sure that the assessment pattern of the boards meet the necessary skill required in today’s time and are in consonance with the objectives of the NEP.

The final draft of the new National Education Policy will be presented before that cabinet for approval. However, there could be changes incorporated. It has also been stated that the board examinations will also be made much easier as per the new National Education Policy.

The board examinations will test the core capacities of the students rather than the preparations which last for months. Any student who performs and makes a basic effort in a class will be able to pass the corresponding examinations without much additional effort.

The draft of the National Education Policy was submitted by former Indian Space Research Organisation chief K Kasturirangan to the Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal after he took charge. After the draft was submitted the same was put in the public domain for feedback and suggestions. The experts while drafting the NEP also took into consideration the report of a panel headed by former cabinet secretary TSR Subramanian formed by former HRD Minister Smriti Irani.
