Tamil Nadu Schools Closed: As per the latest updates, the Tamil Nadu school holiday has been announced in the Tirunelveli district on December 20, 2023. The district collector has issued an order for all schools to remain shut and the scheduled exams have also been postponed. Parents and students can get in touch with the school administration in case of queries regarding the Tamil Nadu school holidays.
The official tweet of ANI reads, ‘’Tamil Nadu | A holiday has been announced in all schools and colleges of Tirunelveli district tomorrow (20th December). The exams that were to be held are also postponed: District Collector, Tirunelveli.’’
Tamil Nadu Schools Closed: IMD Issues Red Alert in TN Districts
The Tamil Nadu holiday has been declared due to constant rainfall in several areas of the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi, Tiruvaneli, Tenskasi, and Kanyakumari districts.
Tamil Nadu Schools Closed: Thunderstorms and Lightning Predicted
Chennai Meteorological Department on December 19 at 7.00 AM predicted, "Moderate thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over several districts of Tamil Nadu & Karaikal. Light rain is likely in isolated places in several districts of Tamil Nadu in the next three hours."

Even today, Tamil Nadu schools are closed in Kanyakumari and Tenkasi districts. The school holiday has been announced due to heavy rainfall since yesterday.
