Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan To Inaugurate World Book Fair 2024 At New Delhi

The Union Minister for Education, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, will inaugurate the World Book Fair 2024. The book fair is going to be organised between February 10 and 18, 2024 from 11.00 AM to 8.00 PM at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The National Book Trust (NBT) is hosting an exciting multilingual theme event for all book lovers. Various countries will be participating in the event and Saudi Arabia will be the guest of honor. The programme will provide an immersive experience to the visitors. 

The information was shared at a press conference held on February 8, 2024, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The convention witnessed notable speakers namely, Hema Maity- General Manager at India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Prof. Milind Sudhakar Marathe-Chairman of the National Book Trust, Yuvraj Malik-Director of the National Book Trust and Abdullatif Alwasel-General Manager of Publishing at Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission.

New Delhi Book Fair Unveiled: A Celebration of Languages, Literature, and Culture!

The speakers graced the event with their presence and shed some light on the exciting event. NBT Chairman Prof. Milind Sudhakar Marathe addressed the conference and gave insights into the schedule, activities, and theme of the fair. He called the upcoming event- a festival of culture, literature, arts, and knowledge.

Stressing upon the multilingual theme of the fair, he said that India is a land of diversity and the people speak multiple languages here. The theme plays a major role in national integration and it is important to respect the plurilingual fabric of the country. 

Yuvraj Malik, director of NBT also threw light on the forthcoming event. He stated that the visitors will be witnessing multiple editions of books, braille books, and more. The event will be a fusion of Mushairya, Sammelan, Folk dance and music, sufi dance, and qawwali. Differently-abled people, students, teachers, and senior citizens can get the tickets free of cost. Apart from them,  a nominal fee is there for visitors. 

Where is World Book Fair 2024 Being Held?

The National Book Trust of India is organising the World Book Fair 2024 from February 10 to 18, 2024 from 11.00 AM to 8.00 PM. The international book fair is going to be held at Pragati Maidan from hall number 1 to 5. The nearest metro station is the Supreme Court. For the disabled, wheelchair facilities will be available near entrances 4 and 8 of Pragati Maidan.

What is Entry Fee for World Book Fair 2024?

Citizens can enter the event by buying the ticket at nominal prices. The ticket price is Rs 10 for children and Rs 20 for adults. However, no amount will be charged to students in school uniform, students on educational trips, disabled, and senior citizens.

The international book fair will include drama, folk performances, music, band performances, and much more. It will not only be a national stage to enjoy the performances of famous artists and poets and introduce them to leading musicians, but it will also be an ideal mix of contemporary and regional representation of the country.

The theme of the event is Multilingual- a living tradition through which cultural richness and linguistic diversity will be reflected. The theme pavilion, spanning 1000 square meters, showcases the level of linguistic expressions via books, printed materials, e-media, and applications. The language apps provide for smooth translation between languages, which not only makes living an Al-driven lifestyle easier but also encourages code-switching and communication in nations with large multilingual populations.
