Goa board of education was established to inculcate high quality of secondary as well as higher secondary education to the school students based in Goa. The education board mainly focuses on increasing the academic, intellectual and physical talent as well as the skills. Apart from conducting examinations, the educational board declares results, provides curriculum or syllabus, grants certificates and also prescribes admission to the students for both private and government affiliated institutions. As far as the time table of 2014 is concerned, the Goa board of education has come out of with their date sheet. Students who are going to take HSSC/SSC examinations can download their date sheet or time table from the official website. The exam time table, syllabus, and the pattern of the examination are displayed on the official website. The examinations start from 1st march and the examination starts from 10 30 am to 12 30 pm for both regular and students who are re-appearing for the examination. In the year 2013, there were approximately 18,509 students who appeared for the SSC examination conducted by the Goa board at 24 centers which were held between March 28 and April 8. The pass percentage was near about 85.34 per cent. The number of candidates appearing in the year 2013 were highest ever since the inception of Goa board as also the number of passing out. However, the pass percentage slightly lowered as compared to that of 2011 wherein 15,330 appeared and 13,191 were declared successful.
The Goa board as per its policies and guidelines would definitely permit its bunch of students who have failed in one exam to be held later. As far as the subject wise division is concerned, there were 16,724 students who appeared for English paper, and 90.4 per cent managed to clear the examination whereas in the case of Mathematics of 19,713 who appeared, of which 86 per cent passed.
In the case of science, of 19,625 students appeared for the examination, of which 89.69 passed the check and in social science of the 19,141 appeared and 90.07 percent cleared the examination.
