Gujarat state education board and Government of Gujarat conducts Gujarat common entrance test GUJCET for admission to the bachelors program in various fields such as Medical, Engineering, Pharmacy, colleges in various government/ government aided, universities, and private colleges, and institutes in Gujarat state. The task of conditioning the examination is entrusted with various universities of Gujarat. The test is conducted in various courses such as Bachelor of technology, bachelor of engineering, bachelor of medicine bachelor of surgery, bachelor of dental surgery, and bachelor of Pharmacy. However there is certain eligibility criterion that is required by the students to clear this examination. Admission to the courses will be based on 40% of GUJCET score and 60% of 12th marks. For admission to MBBS, 70% marks in 12th are also required. GUJCET specifies that students from subjects in class 12th such physics, chemistry and mathematics can only appear for examinations in engineering field.
The mode of writing examinations i.e. the languages are English, Hindi and Gujarati. The entrance examination has three papers, physics, Biology and Mathematics. Candidates who wish to apply for engineering examinations need to appear for Physics, chemistry and Mathematics examinations. According to the rules and regulations there is a particular eligibility criterion which the students are supposed to follow. Candidates who have passed higher secondary certificate examination science stream conducted by Gujarat secondary and higher secondary education board are only eligible for these examinations. Candidates are also supposed to appear for class 12th examinations in the science stream and then they are required to fill in the application form for common entrance test. Candidates who have passed std. XII science stream examination conducted by the Central Board of secondary education, New Delhi through the recognized school situated in the state of Gujarat or the candidates who have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of std. XII science stream through recognized school/candidates going to appear in examination of std. XII science stream in the very year in which the candidates have filled in application form for common entrance test. The application forms for the same are available by the last week of January and the last date of submission of forms are second week of February and the examinations would be conducted by the second week of April.
Thus students are supposed to work extremely hard and remain determined when it comes to clearing such entrance examinations.
