AFCAT Exam (I) 2019 provides a career in the field of defence services of the nation. The exam will open the gate to enter the field of Air Force. The job offers not only a challenging career but also a handsome pay. The job has many prospects to get thrilled. The notification for the conduction of the exam is out. The AFCAT Exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice a year.

Students can apply for the posts from 1 December 2018. The last date of applying is 30 December 2018. The admit cards will be released in the first week of the February 2019. The exam is going to be held on 16 and 17 February 2019.

Commissions in the Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force (IAF) grants two Commissions for the aspirants. One is Permanent Commission (PC) and the other is Short Service Commission (SSC). The Permanent Commission (PC) is only for males while the Short Service Commission (SSC) is for both males and females.

In the Permanent Commission (PC), the candidates serve till they attain the age of superannuation while in the Short Service Commission (SSC), the candidates serve for 14 years in the Flying Branch from the date of Commissioning; and for 10 years in the Ground Duty (Tech and Non-Tech). AFCAT Exam (I) 2019: Eligibility Conditions

(a) Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.

(b) Age:

(i) Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2020 i.e. born between 02 January 1996 and 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years, i.e. born between 02 January 1994 and 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).

(ii) Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 2020 i.e. born between 02 January 1994 and 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).

(c) Marital Status: Candidates under 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are not eligible. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application, though successful at SSB or medical will not be eligible for training. A candidate who marries during the period of training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Government. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply, but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live out with family.

(d) Educational Qualifications:

(i) Flying Branch: Candidates must have passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and

Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

OR

BE/B. Tech. degree (Four year course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

OR

Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

(ii) Ground Duty (Technical) Branch: Candidates with a minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four year degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University

OR

Cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

(iii) Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(iv) NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 Jan 2017 is mandatory. Candidates must have passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2. Graduates with minimum three year degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

OR

BE/B. Tech. degree (Four year course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

AFCAT Exam (I) 2019: Selection Process and Exam Pattern

AFCAT Exam is held twice a year. The online exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force. This year the exam is scheduled on 16 and 17 February 2019. Here is the selection process of the AFCAT:

Stage 1: AFCAT Written Exam for the Non-Technical candidates; and AFCAT+EKT for the Technical candidates.

Stage 2: AFSB Interview.

Stage 3: Medical Test.

For all the candidates of the AFCAT, it is mandatory to appear in the written test. Also, the candidates who have applied for the technical posts need to appear in the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). See the table below:

The questions will be Objective type and the language of the questions will be English only for both AFCAT and EKT. There is a provision of negative marking in this exam. For every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted as penalty. No scribe is allowed in any case whatsoever.
