IIM Ahmedabad has completed the final placement process for the Class of 2017 of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management students. As per the placement process, the students were being placed across more than 10 cohorts.
E-commerce major Amazon extended highest offers (18 offers) to final-year post-graduate students at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), during the recently concluded placement process. Thus, Amazon has become the top recruiter for the current batch. Approximately 100 firms took part in the final round of placements at IIM-A. Sector-wise, consulting firms, such as Accenture Strategy, Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company, and The Boston Consulting Group, made the highest number of offers. Following Amazon was McKinsey & Company; it made 15 offers. More than 30 firms have hired students from diverse sectors such as technology, consulting, Pharmaceuticals and analytics. In the second stage of the Final placement process, firms were grouped into various cohorts based on the profile offered, and groups of cohorts were invited to campus across different clusters.
In 2017, there are seven students who have opted out of the placements process to work on their own ventures, under the guidance and mentorship of Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE).

IIM-A was established in 1961, and offers Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Management and Agri-Business Management, a Fellowship Programme and a number of Executive Training Programmes. The Institute's first Director was the Indian physicist Vikram Sarabhai. The Director as of 2016 is Ashish Nanda.
The institute has benchmarked the score of CAT exam as the criteria to get admission to its regular PGP in Management programmes. Thereafter a WAT and PI round is conducted to select the best talented students of India.
