Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup on Friday announced that the Class 12 re-exam for the economics paper will be held on April 25. However, the decision on the re-exam for the Class 10 Mathematics paper will be announced later.
"Regarding Class 10th re-examination, as leak was restricted to Delhi and Haryana, if it at all a re-exam will happen, it will happen only in Delhi and Haryana and a decision will be taken on this in next 15 days. If at all a re-exam is done, it will be in July," said Anil Swarup.
There will be no re-examination for NRI students, the secretary added
"There has been no leak outside India, hence no re-examination will be held outside the country. The question papers are different for students appearing for the CBSE examinations outside India," he said.
"There are no perfect solutions for this kind of situation. Our immediate concern of the children who have suffered and this decision is in that context. We will nail the person who did this," Education Secretary Anil Swarup further added.
Similar incident (CBSE paper leak) was reported in 2014:
A similar incident of CBSE paper leak was reported earlier. In 2014, Class 12th Physics question paper was leaked in Manipur on March 5, 2014 after which the CBSE has decided to hold it afresh in the State on April 2.
Reason for delay in CBSE re-exams
Main reasons for the delay are ongoing CBSE board exams and JEE Main 2018 dates. As per CBSE date sheet 2018, last exam of ongoing CBSE board exams 2018 is Physical Education. This paper is scheduled to be held on April 13, 2018. There are a number of exams in queue till April 13.
Exam dates for JEE Main 2018 are:
Offline mode (Pen & Paper based) - April 8
Online mode (Computer based test) - April 15 and April 16
Clearly, after facing a lot of criticism, CBSE don’t want any issue while conducting JEE Main. Due, to this reason the exam date for Class 12 Economics is on April 25. Till then students will enough time for the preparation of CBSE Class 12 Economics board exam 2018.
Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced a retest of the two papers this week following reports that the papers were leaked. The board issued a circular informing about the re-examination and said dates and other details for it would be posted on the board’s website.
Meanwhile, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said the Government is conducting an internal inquiry into reports claiming that the CBSE Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics papers had been leaked. Learn more from the link given below:
