Union Public Services Commission conducted the Civil Services Main Exam (written) from 28 September 2018 for the recruitment of IAS, IPS and other central civil services. In General Studies paper I,General Studies Paper II and General Studies Paper III, there were 25 questions in the question paper and all were compulsory in nature. No option was provided with any question. The paper had 25 questions and the paper was divided into two sections. First 10 questions were of 10 marks. The word limit of each question was about 150 words. The next 15 questions were of 15 marks each and the word limit for each question was 250 words.

If the candidates stick to the word limit then also they had to write around 1500+2500= 4000 words in three hours. The candidates had to think, frame, and write the answers in the stipulated time limit, which is a very difficult task.

IAS Mains is the toughest part of the IAS exam and every year IAS mains question papers provide a blueprint on what is the actual requirement of the exam and what should be read.
