The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) came into existence in the year 2003, after the formation of Jharkhand in the year 2000. The headquarters of Jharkhand Academic Council is situated in Ranchi. Jharkhand Academic Council (Jharkhand Act 2 of 2003) was established for conducting examination of Intermediate Education, Secondary Education, Sanskrit Education and Madrasa Education.
The main function of the Jharkhand Board is to grant recognition to schools in Jharkhand, decide syllabus and books for students and to conduct their exams and announce the results on time. The syllabus for the exam keeps being updated time to time and the examination, checking of copies, announcement of the results is also the part of their work.
It is the responsibility of the JAC to conduct Class 10 & Class 12 Exams annually. Also the Council/Board is responsible for assessing the candidates and publishing the Board final exam results every year for both Class 10 and Class 12.
The Jharkhand Board conducted the 10th class (High School) board examination in between 22 February 2012 to 05 March 2012.
The Jharkhand Board declared the class 12 final exam result on 1 June 2012. It had already declared the 10th class board result on 10 May 2012.
