The Indian Cricket Team is managed by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). It is a member of ICC (International Cricket Council) with One Day International and Test match status.
Cricket was pioneered in India by the European merchant sailors in the Eighteenth century. In India, the first cricket club was recognized in Calcutta in the year 1792. The cricket team of India did not play its 1st Test match till June 25, 1932 at Lord's stadium.
Indian team became the 6th team to be settled Test cricket status. Indian team gained power near the end of 1970’s with the surfacing of sportspersons such as Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan, Bishen Singh Bedi and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar. Customarily much brawny at home than overseas, the Indian team has enhanced its abroad figure since the Twenty-first century.
Indian Cricket team is also the 1st cricket team to succeed the Cricket World Cup on home soil.
