Students from other universities will also be allowed to pursue M. Sc at Mumbai University in coming academic year, but only after completing a bridge course.
Till this session, the course was open to only those students who done their B. Sc from MU only. Students who have B.Sc degree from other varsities weren’t allowed for M. Sc at MU, as their syllabus was not in line to what has been offered in Mumbai.
The MU’s academic council, in a recent meeting has approved the syllabus for the bridge course. The course will be of 12 credits and will be available at first for M. Sc in computer science, microbiology, biotechnology and chemistry. The Dean of Science Faculty at MU clarified that B. Sc in other universities has three subjects in the final year and here we have only one subject so that it could be covered in detail.
The bridge course will have to be done concurrently with the M. Sc so there would be no year lapse. It is of 12 credits, and students have to clear it before taking up the M. Sc exam. So students are advised to do with it in the first semester.
