South Western Railway issued notification inviting applications for recruitment to 2 Group ‘C’ posts in Pay Band 1 with Grade Pay of Rs. 1900 against Cultural Quota in the disciplines of Classical Instrumental – Mridangam (Carnatic styles) and Light music (vocal) for the year 2013 -2014. Eligibility Criterion:
Educational Qualifications: Matriculation or equivalent
Professional Qualifications:
For Classical Instrumental – Mridangam (Carnatic Style): Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Classical Instrumental – Mridangam (Carnatic Style) or its equivalent.
For Light Music (Vocal): Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Light Music (Vocal) or its equivalent.
Desirable: Experience in the field and performance given in AIR/Doordarshan etc with prizes won at National level.
Age limit: (as on 1 January 2014)
Minimum: 18 years
Maximum: 35 years
[Serving Railway employees who have put in a minimum of 3 years of service will be given relaxation of age to the extent of service rendered, subject to the age limit not exceeding 40 yrs.]
Recruitment Process: The recruitment will be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the written test followed by assessment of talent in the relevant field.
Candidates found eligible will be called for written test and those qualifying the written test will be allowed to appear for
the practical demonstration.
(A) Written Test: 50 marks: will have multiple choice objective type questions.
(B) Assessment of talent in the relevant field: 50 marks
(i) Practical demonstration: 35 marks
(ii) Testimonials / Prizes etc.: 15 marks
Total: 100 marks
Candidates selected for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness standards prescribed for the post.
Examination Fees: Non-refundable examination fees of Rs. 100 have to be paid in the form a crossed Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of FA & CAO, South Western Railway, Hubli and payable at Hubli.
Details of the IPO should be mentioned at the appropriate place on the application form.
Candidates should fill their personal details in the space provided for the purpose in the IPO.
Candidates belonging to SC / ST community, female, Ex-servicemen, PWD, Minority and candidates belonging to Economically Backward classes are exempted from payment of examination fees.
