The UP Board set up in the year 1921 conducted its first examination in 1923. The UP Board set up at Allahabad by an act of United Provinces Legislative Council conducts board exams for both class 10 and 12 students. The UP Board was the first in India to have adopted the 10+2 system of examination since the very beginning.
The first public examination after 10 years education is High School Examination and after the 10+2 stage, there is Intermediate Examination. As Uttar Pradesh has a very high population, it is said that the UP board is the biggest examining board present all over the world. The main function of the Uttar Pradesh Board is to grant recognition to schools in UP, decide syllabus and books for students and to conduct their exams and announce the results on time.
Since 1921 UP board has been doing its job very well. Every year the board examinations are conducted very successfully. The syllabus for the exam keeps being updated time to time and the examination, checking of copies, announcement of the results is also the part of their work. Earlier UP board used to announce the results on News Papers but for last some years the results are being announced on Internet. The students can check their results on the official website of the Board.
The UP Board currently head quartered at Allahabad has four Regional Offices of the Board at Meerut, Varanasi, Bareilly and Allahabad under the control of Regional Secretaries. At present there are 9121 secondary schools recognized by the U.P. Board of High School and Intermediate Education.
The UP Board had conducted the 10th class (High School) examination from 1 March 2012. The UP Board 10th class examination was completed by 21 March. The board is likely to announce the Class 10 Results on 8 June 2012. This year i.e 2011- 2012 Session, nearly 3603857 students appeared for the UP Board Class 10 Examination.
Last year, in 2011 with an overall pass percentage of 70.82% against the 70.79% in 2010, the results indicated a below average performance of the students. Around 498218 were declared passed and around 15.38% of students failed in one subject in 2011. The girls performed better than the boys.
