Dish TV on 10 October 2012 announced a basic service of 70 channels at affordable rates for five year. This act of the company came up to relive its consumers in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, who were supposed to get their services digitised by the end of October 2012. In this case it’s mandatory for every customer to move themselves from the analog signal to digital signal.

This digitisation will help in eradication of the cable operators control over the content of the presentation. During, this basic service for five years in case the subscriber fails to get his/her account recharged the television set would not go blank. But it will be mandatory to get the account recharged within six months and the agreement will be valid for a period of five months.

The organization also cleared that the customers for getting them identified as the customers of the company will first have to invest 1590 rupees for the new set-up box and get its account recharged with a sum of 200 rupees. After this they can have an access to 70 different channels that includes Marathi, Bhojpuri and Telgu Channels too. The company for attracting customers will use Shah Rukh Khan, who is also a brand ambassador of the company and pictures of Jeeva will be used in Chennai for advertisements.
