Chinese President Hu Jintao on 16 January 2013 appointed the career diplomat and its current envoy to Singapore Wei Wei as its new Ambassador to India. Wei Wei would be the successor of Zhang Yan in India.
Wei Wei appointment as the Ambassador to India was confirmed by the President following the decision made by the Standing Committee of the Chinese Top Legislature, the National People's Congress (NPC). He has served as a diplomat of China in countries like, Ethopia, Brunei, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
