The Central Government recently appointed Vijaya Kishor Rahatkar as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW). Her appointment has been made under Section 3 of the National Commission for Women Act, 1990. His tenure is for a term of three years or till the age of 65 years (whichever is earlier). Rahatkar is the 9th Chairperson of the NCW who will replace Rekha Sharma.

Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless Limited, has been appointed as the new President of the national trade association, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). This was announced at the ICC's annual plenary meeting held in New Delhi, where Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was the chief guest.

The country's central bank RBI has recently imposed restrictions on four NBFCs including Navi Finserv over compliance issues. These four NBSCs (Ashirvad Micro Finance Limited, Arohan Financial Services Limited, DMI Finance Private Limited and Navi Finserv Limited) have been barred from sanctioning and disbursing loans.

Sudarshan Corps of Indian Army is conducting "Swavalamban Shakti Exercise" at Babina Field Firing Range near Jhansi. Around 1,800 soldiers, 210 armoured vehicles and aircraft are participating in this exercise. The exercise, which will run till October 22, aims to improve the combat capabilities of the army by using new and advanced technologies.

South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has created history by becoming the bowler to take 300 wickets in the least number of balls in Test cricket. When Kagiso Rabada took his 300th Test wicket, he had bowled 11,817 balls. Earlier this record was in the name of Pakistan's Waqar Younis. He achieved this feat in 12,602 balls.
