Avani Lekhara has become the first Indian woman to win gold at the Paralympics. The 19-year-old created a Paralympics record by equaling the world record held by Ukraine’s Iryna Shchetnik with a score of 249.6 that was set in 2018.

India's paralympic javelin thrower Sumit Antil won historic gold in the Class F64 Javelin Throw event on August 30, 2021. This is India's second gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 after shooter Avani Lekhara won gold in R-2 women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1.

The first case of the AY.12 sub-lineage of the Delta variant was detected in the Kotdwar area of Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand. The state health department has issued necessary guidelines and the concerned patient has been asked to remain in home quarantine.

Delhi Government has planned to implement a new 10-year action plan to combat climate change by this year-end. The central government had prepared the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) in 2009 and had requested the states to prepare their own specific plans. North Korea appears to have restarted the operation of its main nuclear reactor in Yongbyon, according to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The UN atomic agency said that it is "deeply troubled" by the indications, as the 5-megawatt reactor is widely believed to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons and is at the heart of North Korea's nuclear programme.
