Sarla Thukral was the first Indian woman to pilot an aircraft. She was honoured by Google with a unique doodle on August 8, 2021 to mark her 107th birth anniversary. She was an Indian pilot, designer and entrepreneur, who was best known for being the first woman from India to pilot an aircraft.

Neeraj Chopra became the first-ever Indian athlete to win individual gold at the Olympic Games on August 7, 2021. He is the second Indian-ever to win an individual gold after Abhinav Bindra, who won gold in Men's 10m air rifle in shooting in 2008 Olympic Games.

The Ministry of Defence on August 4, 2021, announced that the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has completed the construction of the world’s highest motorable road at Umlingla Pass in Eastern Ladakh.The motorable road has been built at an altitude of 19,300 feet, has been constructed at an elevation greater than the Mount Everest base camps. The north base camp in Tibet is situated at 16,900 feet and the south base camp in Nepal is situated at 17,598 feet.
