Haryana beat Kerala to win team championship at National Youth Athletics Meet

However, Kerala retained the team crown for girls with 100 points, while Haryana boys topped with 108.5 points at the end of the three day meet.

National Youth Athletics MeetHaryana on 23 April 2017 defeated Kerala to win the team championship at the National Youth Athletics Meet.

The National Youth Athletics Meet concluded at G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana. The meet saw the participation of about 505 athletes.

Haryana defeated arch rivals Kerala after six years to grab the trophy.

Haryana emerged champions with overall 166.5 points including girls and boys performance. Kerala finished as runners-up managing 134.75 points.

However, Kerala retained the team crown for girls with 100 points, while Haryana boys topped with 108.5 points at the end of the three day meet.

On the other hand, 2016 World School Games Champion Rohit Yadav from Haryana improved his personal best in javelin throw with an excellent 76.11m throw. It was also a new meet record.  

Punjab’s javelin throw player Damneet Singh was declared the Best Athlete in Boys Category.  In the Girls Category, Aparna Roy, who won 100m hurdles race, was awarded as the Best Athlete.
