Kolkata based Hindustan Motors on 11 March 2012 launched the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV in India. The company has launched the car with a starting price of 23.53 lakh Rupees.
The SUV is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine putting out 178 PS of power. In terms of price, it competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor, Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Santa Fe and the smaller BMW X1.
As per an agrrement inked between Indian and Japanese car manufacturing company, Hindustan Motors privides Mitsubishi with assembling and marketing faciilities in India. It specifically deals in Mitsubishi car models viz. the Lancer, Cedia and Outlander.
The two companies had formed a joint-venture in 1998. Together they have produced car models like, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Mitsubishi Lancer, Mistubishi Cedia, Mitsubishi Pajero, Mistubishi Montero, Mitsubishi Outlander.
