Weekly magazine Tehelka on 17 ovember 2010 was awarded the IPI India Award for Excellence in Journalism, 2010 for outstanding journalistic work. The report by Teresa Rehman in Tehelka on the brutal execution of a youth by security forces in Manipur in broad daylight on 23 July 2009 was highly appreciated by the Jury. The IPI Award is given by International Press Institute which is a forum of Editors, Publishers and senior Executives of newspapers, magazines and news agencies who are committed to promotion of free exchange of accurate and balanced news among nations. The Award comprises a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a trophy and a citation.
