The auction for cricketers for IPL 3 was held at Trident in the Bandra- Kurla Complex on 19 Jan 2010. The eight franchisees could use a fresh purse of $750,000 each to select one or two players from among the 51 for auction. The highest bids were for West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard and New Zealand's Shane Bond. Mumbai Indians bought Pollard for $2.75 million and Kolkata Knight Riders got Bond into their team for $1.3 million.
