Ladla Bhai Yojana: Maharashtra Students to Receive Stipend Upto Rs. 10,000

The Maharashtra Government led by CM Eknath Shinde has announced a new scheme ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ under which male students will receive a stipend of a maximum of up to Rs 10,000, based on their education level.

This scheme can be seen as a follow-up of the Maharashtra government’s ‘ Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme,’ which is considered as a huge success in the state. This announcement holds political significance as well, as the state is about to go under state assembly elections in December of this year.

‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ Stipend

The stipend amount will vary based on the beneficiaries' qualifications, as stated by an official from the Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.

Aim of ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’

The objective of this scheme is to benefit around 1 million youth. Maharashtra government is expected to spend a total amount of ₹10,000 crore for this scheme, according to several reports.

Under the Ladla Bhai scheme, the youth of Maharashtra will participate in a one-year apprenticeship in a factory, in which they are to gain work experience that will help them secure jobs in the future. 

CM Shinde stated that this initiative aims to prepare a skilled workforce in the state. "The scheme will provide skilled youth not only to the state's industries but also to those across the country. The government will pay the youth during their apprenticeship to help them become proficient in their jobs," Shinde added.

What is ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme’?

The Maharashtra government’s Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme provides financial aid to women.

Under this scheme, women between the ages of 21 and 60 will get a monthly payment of Rs 1,500. The state government has allocated a yearly budget of Rs. 46,000 crore to this scheme.
