Maharashtra Launched a Website to help Curb Sex Discrimination

The Maharashtra state government on 11 July 2011 launched a website and a helpline to discourage the conducting of sex determination tests. Through this website and helpline, complaints could be recorded anonymously about illegal ultrasound tests. The helpline is functional and the website could be accessed by the public from 1 August 2011.


The website will be available in three languages namely Hindi, English and Marathi.  District authorities will be alerted through emails after a complaint is registered.
