The Government of India in cooperation with the Government of Mexico and the United Nations DESA organized an informal Ministerial Dialogue on Climate Change: Technology Mechanism on 9 and 10 November 2010 in New Delhi. The Ministerial Dialogue, 2010 was a follow up of the high level Conferences on Climate Change: Technology Development and Transfer held in New Delhi in October 2009.The Delhi Dialogue enabled the Ministers from about 50 countries to discuss and develop consensus on the design of a global technology mechanism for development, deployment and delivery of clean technologies in the context of climate change to developing countries. The Ministerial Dialogue is expected to play an important role in advancing the dialogue amongst the Parties on technology related issues in the context of the upcoming climate change negotiations at Cancun in Dec 2010.
The Indian Union Cabinet on 4 November 2010 had approved the exchange of letters of agreement between United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Government of India towards organizing the Informal Ministerial Dialogue on Climate Change : Technology Mechanisam. The approval was aimed at making provision of necessary privileges and immunities to the participants invited by the UN in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the Convention on the privileges and immunities of the United Nations during the Conference.
