Miss World honoured Aishwarya Rai Bachan on 14 December 2014 for charitable work. She was honoured with a special award at the Miss World 2014 ceremony in London.
The prize was announced to applause her charitable work since she crowned Miss World in 1994.
Aishwarya Rai Bachan appeared on stage with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, their daughter Aaradhya and her mother Vrinda Rai.
Aishwarya Rai was the first runner-up of the Miss India pageant. She won the Miss World pageant in 1994. She made her acting debut in the 1997.
She has received several awards and nominations, including two Filmfare Awards. She was awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012.
