Australian police on 11 December 2012 warned travelers against the troubled iPhone mapping software of Apple after various motorists stuck in the snake-infested desert of the country. These travellers used iPhone for seeking directions to their routes but instead they were directed to the snake-infested desert of country.
Police in the state of southeast Victoria revealed that they had to rescue various motorists who were caught for 24 hours without water or food after they were directed to the Murray Sunset National Park instead of Mildura, the tourist town which is situated 70 km away.
The Mildura police inspector described that at least 6 vehicles were stuck in desert’s park on the sandy tracks after they followed the iOS mapping system in order to exit infrequent and long sign-posted route of the highway between state of South Australia and Victoria.
The police made it clear that though these people were rescued but without food, water or phone range, they might have landed into serious troubles.
Police also contacted Apple for the issue. Even though Apple had rectified the Mildura's location but motorists who were seeking directions from the city if Melbourne were even now directed off track by iOS.
Police made an appeal to the people that they should not follow the technology blindly for getting the directions because they might be misdirected on the long stretches.
