Proposal to develop Tele-Booking Services of the Auto-Rickshaws cleared by EDMC

Standing Committee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on 14 February 2013 cleared the proposal, for tele-booking services of the auto-rickshaws on the lines of radio taxis. The proposal would be tabled in the house for being approved. Te proposal once passed would help provide a safe and reliable transport facility to the residents of East Delhi.

The proposed name of the facility is Green Autos and the main aim of the project is to provide auto rickshaw facility round the clock, at the door-steps of the residents of East Delhi at Government notified meter based price. To avail this facility, the passenger is liable to pay the fare from the place of boarding the auto.

To manage and control the facility of tele-booking services of the auto-rickshaws a centralized call-centre is proposed to be developed. The call-centre would be responsible for forwarding the calls directly to the auto drivers.

Nirmal Foundation that is running similar type of auto-rickshaw services in different cities of Gujarat would be responsible for setting up of the services in East Delhi and manage it. Once the proposal is cleared by the house, the foundation will be responsible for development of the call centre and starting the service at its own cost. EDMC would provide space to the foundation for development of the call centre. Delhi-police would support the corporation in verifying the past history of the drivers appointed to operate the new service.
