The Indian Government appointed Saeed Mirza as the President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Society and Chairman of its Governing Council on 24 March 2011. The order for the same was issued by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
The Indian Government reconstituted the Society of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune for a period of three years with effect from 4 March 2011 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
11 persons were nominated as ex-officio members of the FTII Society. The nominated members include- Joint Secretary (Films) Ministry of I&B, Deputy Secretary, Chief Executive Officer, Prasar Bharati, Chairman, Central Board of Film Certification, Managing Director, National Film Development Corporation amongst others.
In the category of experts representing the activities of the Central Government, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Chairperson, Sangeet Natak Academy Leela Samson and Director General, Doordarshan have been apointed as Members of the FTII Society.
In the category of persons of eminence connected with Films and Television Education, Journalism, Literature, Fine Arts, Dramatics, Performing Arts, Etc, thefollowing members have been appointed- Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ratan Thiyyam, Shazi Zaman, Rajiv Mehrotra, Rama Vij, Benoy K Behl, Dr Kiran Seth.
Zareena Wahab, Rajkumar Hirani, Raza Murad, Subhash Chandra Sahoo have been nominated as members of FTII Society under the category of alumni of FTII.
