Sikkim Government to construct Mini Sikkim for showcasing state’s diverse & rich culture

The Chief Minister also announced setting up of a memorial and museum exclusively dedicated to the Indian freedom fighters in West Sikkim district.

Sikkim’s Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on 9 February 2016 announced that the state government will construct a ‘Mini Sikkim’, which will be a centre for showcasing the state’s diverse and rich culture.

The ‘Mini Sikkim’ will be constructed under the Namthang Ratheypani constituency in South Sikkim district.

The announcement was made while inaugurating a newly constructed market at Maniram Bhanjyang in the district.


As per reports, the new project will consist of traditional houses of fifteen ethnic communities of Sikkim. Traditional museums will also be put in place alongside commercial outlets throughout the State.

This initiative will help the state in garnering domestic and international tourists throughout the year.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister also announced setting up of a memorial and museum exclusively dedicated to the Indian freedom fighters in West Sikkim district. The memorial will have statues of martyrs from the state as well as those from other parts of the country.
