Union Cabinet approves transfer of Department of Posts' land to Thrissur Municipal Corporation
The Department of Posts will get an equal area of land of 16.5 cents which is about 200 metres away from the existing Trichur Central Post Office.
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3 May 2017 approved the transfer of 16.5 cents of land and building belonging to Department of Posts at Thrissur (Trichur) in Kerala to Thrissur Municipal Corporation.
The land transfer is aimed at widening of Pattalam Road of Kochi in public interest on the principle of land in exchange of land.
How land transfer will be beneficial?
• The transfer of land from Trichur's Department of Posts to Thrissur Municipal Corporation will be beneficial not only for both the institutions but also for the people of the area nearby Pattalam road.
• The Department of Posts will get an equal area of land of 16.5 cents which is about 200 metres away from the existing Trichur Central Post Office.
• The Thrissur Municipal Corporation will also construct a Post Office having a built up area of 3500 square feet including compound wall with two gates at their own cost.
• This proposal related to widening of the existing Pattalam road will benefit the people in the locality to travel freely without any traffic block in front of the existing Thrissur Central Post Office. There will be accident-free movement of traffic.
