Union Government launched website for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana

The Union Government launched a dedicated website for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana available both in English and Hindi versions.

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)The Union Finance Ministry on 27 October 2014 launched a dedicated website for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). The website will be available both in English and Hindi.

The website, www.pmjdy.gov.in was launched by Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), GS Sandhu in New Delhi.

About the website
The newly launched website contains information on administrative structure with contact details of Central/State/District level mission directors and nodal officers. It also provides information on latest events and circulars issued under the scheme.

According to an official release, on an average over one lakh bank accounts are opened every day under the scheme. The release also claimed that 6.47 crore bank accounts with a Deposit of 4813.59 crore rupees were opened by 22 October 2014.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is government's flagship financial inclusion programme that was launched on 28 August 2014 to help people in opening bank accounts. The programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an aim to cover all unbanked households in the country by 26 January 2015.

The plan envisages universal access to banking facilities with at least one basic banking account for every household, financial literacy, access to credit, insurance and pension facility.
