Union Sports Ministry announces changes in National Youth Awards
The number of Awards in the Organization category has now been increased from 1 to 10 and the prize money is now Rs 200000 with a Trophy and Certificate.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Vijay Goel on 3 May 2017 revamped the National Youth Awards (NYA) to promote transparency in the selection process.
The National Youth Awards are conferred by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports every year to young people to give recognition to their outstanding work and to motivate them to achieve excellence in the field on National Development and Social Service.
Application process for award nominations now made online
• For the first time, the nominations for the National Youth Awards (NYA) will be received and processed through online mode to cover the people on pan-India basis. Earlier, the nominations were received only through State/UT Governments.
• An applicant can apply now online directly to the Ministry on the recommendation of the Head of the Institution or any officer, not below the rank of Deputy Secretary in the Union Government.
• Applicants will be given 30 days to apply online at https://innovate.mygov.in/national-youth-award/.
• The final selection will be made by the 8-member Central Selection Committee, headed by the Secretary of Department of Youth Affairs and prominent and eminent personalities.
New Logo for National Youth Awards
A new Logo for the National Youth Awards was also released by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
Increase in the number of the awards under National Youth Award
The number of Awards in the Organization category has now been increased from 1 to 10 and the prize money is now Rs 200000 with a Trophy and Certificate. Earlier, only one award was given under Voluntary Organization Category.
Moreover, the number of awards in the Individual category has now been increased to 25 and amount of money for the Award has also been enhanced to Rs 50000.
