Vihaan Networks Ltd. (VNL) in January 2011 entered into a joint venture with U.S-based Boston-Power at the ongoing World Economic Forum at Davos. The joint venture agreement was signed between the two firms to develop and deploy green energy storage solutions for powering unique rural mobile connectivity infrastructure being developed by VNL.
Boston-Power's innovation in extended cycle life as well as dependable performance in extreme climates make it an alternative for providing cost-effective and reliable energy storage for VNL's WorldGSM base stations designed for remote and rural areas of Asia and Africa. WorldGSM a micro-telecom solution is a complete solar-powered GSM and broadband system optimised for the more than two billion individuals who live in rural areas outside of the mobile telecommunications network footprint.
