India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024. This significant milestone marks the completion of 75 years since India adopted its constitution and became a sovereign republic. Republic Day 2024: President’s Speech
Every year on January 26, the Indian President takes centre stage and addresses the nation as a whole through a speech. The current President of India is the Honourable Droupadi Murmu. Like last year, she will give a speech at the Rajpath (Kartavya Path) in New Delhi. For this year’s celebration, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has been invited as the chief guest.
Republic Day 2024: Attractions
The theme for the tableaux at the Republic Day Parade 2024 has been decided as 'भारत - लोकतंत्र की मातृका (जननी) or “Bharat - The Mother of Democracy.” Here are the top attractions for the 75th Republic Day celebrations:
1. This is the first time an all-women tri-service contingency will be marching down the Kartavya Path (formerly called Rajpath) in the history of Republic Day celebrations. The Ministry of Defence has stated that female personnel would also be included in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) contingents.100 female musicians will lead the procession, performing Indian music for the first time. Musical instruments like Sankh, Naadswaram, and Nagada, will be performed by female musicians.
2. Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, an air traffic controller in the Indian Air Force will take part in this year's Republic Day parade. She marched in Paris' Bastille Day celebration in 2023, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited as the chief guest.
3. The festivities will also feature two Rafale fighters, an Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft from France, a 95-person French marching contingent, and a 33-person band contingent.
4. The Culture Ministry will be showcasing 1,900 sarees and drapes from the Indian Union Territories in the 'Anant Sutra' exhibition. The installation, titled 'Anant Sutra - The Endless Thread', will be displayed at Kartavya Path, with QR codes on each saree to educate attendees about weaving and embroidery techniques. The installation also includes a 150-year-old saree, paying tribute to Indian women and weavers.
5. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is planning to display a tableau in the Republic Day Parade that emphasizes the role of artificial intelligence in several areas. The tableau will include a VR headset-enabled teacher educating youngsters, AI in logistics and cattle management, and semiconductor chips that are consistent with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal for electronic manufacturing.

Republic Day 2024: Parade Timings
The Republic Day parade for 2024 will start at 10:30 a.m. from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path in New Delhi. It will take place in front of an audience of approximately 77,000 people. Several regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will march along the Kartavya Path, with tableaus representing the cultures of different states. Approximately 42,000 seats will be reserved for the general public.
