Blue Aadhaar Card: One of the most important Know Your Customer (KYC) documents in the country is Aadhaar. Beyond its primary role in ensuring government initiatives, Aadhaar gained popularity as an important identity proof across diverse sectors.

At present, Aadhaar cards are available in two distinct categories to cater to different demographics. The first category is for adults, known as the standard Aadhaar card. Meanwhile, the second category of Aadhaar card is designed for children below 5 years old and is referred to as 'Baal Aadhaar.'

This article will help you know everything about the unique identity card for your young one.

What is a Blue Aadhaar Card?

The Blue Aadhaar card, or Baal Aadhaar card, is a unique identification card issued specifically for children aged 5 and below. Similar to a regular Aadhar card, it is based on the child’s biometric and demographic information attached to a 12-digit identification number.

To make it easier for people to distinguish, blue-coloured letters have been introduced. However, because of their age, the child's fingerprints and iris scans are not collected. And children's biometrics on the new Blue Aadhaar card will be updated when they turn five.

This exemplary document can be used for identity and address verification to ensure the benefits of government welfare programs and scholarships.
