On December 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an event in Varanasi in which he expressed that the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra is a touchstone for him. He further expressed that the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra is actually a big dream and a huge resolution for him.

The Prime Minister visited Varanasi for two days. What exactly is the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra? Let's understand.

 

 Understanding the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra

 

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra aims to raise awareness relating to the implementation of several central schemes such as the Ujjwala Yojana, PM SVANidhi, PM Suraksha Bima, Ayushman Bharat, and more, as a government initiative.

As per the website of the scheme, the four aims of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yojana, are:

  • to reach out to the vulnerable population eligible under multiple schemes but have not yet opted for their benefits till now,
  • to spread information about the schemes and generate awareness
  • To interact with the government schemes beneficiaries via personal experience sharing
  • to enroll potential beneficiaries via information ascertained in the journey

A variety of Union ministries are involved in the program. Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted the Yatra on December 16 in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Mizoram, and Madhya Pradesh. On November 15, the yatra was launched from Jharkhand.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) says that in just one month, the Yatra has managed to reach more than 2.50 crore people of India across 68,000 Gram Panchayats in India. Additionally, over 2 crore people have taken the pledge through the Viksit Bharat Sankalp. It is to be noted that over 2 crore beneficiaries of Central Government Schemes have expressed their experience through an initiative titled "Meri Kahani Meri Zubai". In order to take the pledge (Sankalp) by means of filling out a form on the website of the scheme, after which they will have to download a certificate.
