The Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced a new Coding and Data Science curriculum for the students from classes 6 to 8. The Data science curriculum has been introduced for the students from classes 8 to 12 students. The programmes are introduced in collaboration with Microsoft for the 2021-22 academic session.
The newly introduced curriculum focuses on building critical thinking computational skills, problem-solving skills, creativity, and exposure to new technologies. The courses are also aimed at building next-generation skills in the students considering the new Education Policy 2020.
CBSE chairman Manoj Ahuja stated that with the world relying increasingly on technology it is important that the required skills preparing the students and education are imparted to succeed in this digital world. The new curriculum has been developed in partnership with Microsoft to equip the students with learning skills. He further added that it is important to enabling self-reliance in the students to equip them with skills like problem-solving, logical thinking, collaboration, and design thinking which are critical to success.
Handbook as per NCERT Pattern
The Handbook for Coding and Data Science has been designed as per the NCERT patterns and structures covering real-life examples aimed to build exposure to ethical dimensions exposure to Microsoft MakeCode. The Coding and Data Science in the School curriculum will prove to be an emerging trend in Education.
