Lilavati Awards 2020: Education Minster Ramesh Pokriyal ‘Nishank’ will inaugurate the Lilavati 2020 awards today. An initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the technical education regulator, the Lilavati Award 2020 aims to recognise efforts by the AICTE affiliated institutions in treating women with ‘equality and fairness’. The announcement for the Lilavati Awards 2020 was shared via the official Twitter handle of the Ministry of Education. The event will be conducted in the online mode and will start at 5 PM today. Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE and Amit Khare, Higher Education Secretary will also be present at the online launch event.
Lilavati Award 2020 - Details
Lilavati 2020 awards are based on the theme of women empowerment. The seven categories of awards to be given away include - self-defence, literacy, women entrepreneurship, legal awareness, women health and sanitation and hygiene. The awards aim to create awareness about issues like hygiene, sanitation, health and nutrition using “traditional Indian values”. In addition to this, the award also aims to raise awareness about issues like literacy, employment, innovation, skill development, technology, credit, marketing, natural resources utilisation and women's’ rights.
The entries for the Lilavati Award 2020 were to submitted at an institution or team level to the AICTE, and students or faculty or both from AICTE approved institutions were eligible to submit the same. The AICTE had said that eligible entries received from teams from different institutions will be evaluated by a committee constituted by the education regulator. The winning teams for first, second and third ranks under every sub-theme will be awarded certificates.
