NCERT Road-Map for 2020-21: The Ministry of Human Resource and Development has release a new and detailed road-map for the NCERT for the academic session 2020-21. The new structure proposed to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) focuses on learning outcomes. The NCERT has been tasked with completion of the new academic curriculum design as well as content by October 2020 for Classes 1 through 5.
The School Education and Literacy Department of MHRD who released the road-map said that the same as to be implemented effectively so as to achieve the motto of a self-reliant or ‘Atma-nirbhar’ India. The Department also said that requisite resources will have to be developed. The official release stated that with the new curriculum design, the level of learning and the learning outcome of education can be improved in the coming time.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also spoke on the occasion and said that the format as well as the system of education in the country has to be changed in the near future so that education is accessible to every child in any corner. He said that the NCERT will complete the task through the road-map released. The Minister said that he is hopeful that people will be adaptive of the new normal and the Indian education system will see a new dimension just as the Corona crisis period has been turned into an opportunity.
MHRD Road-map to NCERT: Key Highlights
- Infographics/posters/presentations to be prepared for Class 1 to 5 by October 2020
- For Class 6 to 12 details of the learning outcomes expected.
- Teacher training course online for the teachers of classes 1-5 to be completed by December 2020and for the teachers of classes 6-12 by June 2021 in a phased manner .
- Alternative educational material to be developed for students of Classes 1 to 5 keeping in mind the students who do not have access to any kind of internet facility by December 2020 in a phased manner.
- Educational material and resources to be developed for Classes 6 to 12 by June 2021 in a phased manner.
- Ten questions on two levels of proficiency to be created at least by November 2020 for Classes 1-5 and for the remaining classes by March 2021 to assess the learning outcome of each subject.
- The areas of concerns have been identified based on the 2017 National Academic Survey. The curriculum and content will be designed to address these for Classes 1 to 5 by December 2020 and for Classes 6 to 12 by March 2021.
