The employees of Jamia Millia Islamia observed the Vigilance Awareness Week at the university by taking a pledge to build a corruption-free country. The pledge was jointly administered by the vice-chancellor of the central university Professor Najma Akhtar and the university registrar AP Siddiqui (IPS). The Vigilance Awareness Week was observed at the university from October 28 to November 2, 2019, with the theme ‘Integrity – A Way of Life’
The employees pledged to promote ethical business practices, promote a culture of honesty and integrity along with pledging not to offer or accept bribes and maintain the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and good governance.
As part of its effort to promote probity in public life and achieve a corruption-free country the Central Vigilance Commission observed a Vigilance Awareness Week every year. This year’s Vigilance Awareness Week was celebrated keeping in mind the birthday of Late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel which falls on October 31.
JMI celebrates 99th Foundation Day
The 99th foundation day celebration of Jamia Millia Islamia was conducted from October 29 to October 31, 2019. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the flag by the JMI University Vice-Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar outside the Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium following which she was also presented with the Guard of Honour by NCC cadets before the inauguration of the celebration.
The chief guest for the 99th Jamia Millia Islamia Foundation Day celebrations was former university Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, Janab Syed Shahid Mahdi.
The foundation day celebration lasted for 3 days with the annual convocation ceremony conducted on October 30, 2019. President Ram Nath Kovind was the chief guest at the annual convocation ceremony which awarded the degrees and diplomas to over 5000 students and 360 gold medalists. Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal was also present at the convocation ceremony.
