NCERT Class 9 New Textbooks 2027: Maths Book Available Now, Social Science To Follow On September 30
NCERT has started the rollout of two new Class 9 textbooks for the 2026-27 academic session. The Mathematics book, Ganita Manjari - Part 2, is available for sale, while Understanding Society: India & Beyond - Part 2 will be available from September 30.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has begun making the new Class 9 textbooks available for the 2026-27 academic session, with the rollout covering Mathematics and Social Science. The two books are being introduced as part of the ongoing implementation of the revised school curriculum.
The Class 9 Mathematics textbook, Ganita Manjari โ Part 2, has already been printed and is available for sale from September 21, 2026. Students, parents, teachers and schools can purchase the book through NCERTโs authorised sales channels, including NCERT sales counters, the official NCERT website ncert.nic.in and Amazon.
The Class 9 Social Science textbook, Understanding Society: India & Beyond โ Part 2, will be available for sale from September 30, 2026. The book will also be sold through the same authorised channels after its release.
NCERT has said the new editions have been prepared in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. According to the council, the books are intended to support the revised curricular approach and the changing learning requirements of students.

The latest announcement also comes as schools move further into the 2026-27 academic session. The availability of the two books is particularly relevant for Class 9 students and schools transitioning to the revised curriculum.
NCERT has maintained that the two textbooks are being made available according to the already approved schedule and plan. The staggered release means that students can access the revised Mathematics book now, while the Social Science Part 2 textbook will be available at the end of September.
The development is also part of NCERTโs broader, phased rollout of textbooks under the revised curriculum. Earlier in the year, NCERT had acknowledged delays concerning the new Class 9 Social Science textbook, with the revised curriculum requiring changes to the learning material.
For students preparing for school assessments, the newly prescribed editions will be important reference material for the 2026-27 academic year. Schools and students have been advised to obtain the prescribed textbooks through NCERTโs authorised channels.
